We believe in the dignity of work. The issue of labor is often a political one, but despite what side of the aisle you are on, we can all agree that hard work deserves a good wage. A good job with a good wage is the backbone of families, communities, cities, states and nations. We have set up shop in Detroit, the birthplace of the labor movement, and we would like to do our part in helping to restore the middle class of the local economy.
We are committed to hiring Detroiters and paying them a fair wage along with teaching them an invaluable trade through a union-style apprenticeship program. We believe that by investing in our staff through wages and training, customer satisfaction will take care of itself in regard to the quality and beauty of the furniture we will produce.
We have the utmost confidence that our customers will take pride in the fact that their product is directly impacting Detroit’s economy and that the wood and steel put into their furniture is sustainable and made from 100% recycled materials. To have a 2 1/2 inch thick slab of wood for a table top is truly impressive, and it brings us pride to know that we are saving that beautiful piece from becoming woodchips and instead turning it into a centerpiece where families and friends can gather around for meals and discussions. Just as a good paying job is the backbone of a family, the table serves as the backbone of a family’s life together.
So why not make it as beautiful as possible? We offer slabs in poplar, maple, redwood, and black walnut. We have over 30 years of experience in furniture building. We bring expert craftsmanship and grit to every project so that the customer is surprised and delighted every time. Thank you for visiting Union Town Woodshop, and please let us know what we can build for you.
